Obituary of Florence Lawrence
The passing of Florence Ethel (Brewer) Lawrence of Burtts Corner, NB, wife of the late Philemon Lawrence occurred on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on August 9, 1916 in Burtts Corner, NB, she was the daughter of the late William and Ethel (Gorman) Brewer. Florence was a member of the Keswick Ridge United Church and a lifetime member of the UCW. Florence devoted a lot of her time helping out on the farm, working with her family. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, shopping and going for drives in the car. Florence especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed going to UCW and always looked forward to going to church on Sunday. Florence was the last surviving member of her family, she is survived by her two daughters, Phyllis Cole of Douglas and Charlotte Sheppard (Carl) of Burtts Corner; one son, George Lawrence (Sheila) of Burtts Corner; grandchildren, Jane Gourley (Stuart), Charles Sheppard (Trudy), Carla Sheppard (Garth), Darren Lawrence (Christie) and Philemon Lawrence (Amy); great grandchildren, Alexander and Jean Gourley, Joshua, Jenna and Tynan Lawrence, Ella, Keira and Annalise Lawrence and Brady Erlendson; several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Florence was predeceased by her grandson, Meurling Cole; son-in-law, Stephen Cole; infant brother, Donald Brewer; sisters, Myrtle (John) Albright, Gladys (Joe) Roach and Verna (Eldon) MacDonald. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Sunday, June 26, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at Keswick Ridge United Church on Monday, June 27, 2011 at 2 pm with Rev. Boyce Martin officiating and Rev. Merrill Slipp assisting. Pallbearers for the service will be Stuart and Alexander Gourley, Charles Sheppard, Garth Erlendson, Darren and Philemon Lawrence. Interment will take place in Burtts Corner Community Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Keswick Ridge United Church, Fredericton and Area Down Syndrome Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
