Obituary of Wayne Carr

The peaceful passing of Wayne Richard Carr of Fredericton, NB, occurred on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, with his wife, Marie (Vandenbroeck) Carr, by his side. Born on February 14, 1941 in Geary, NB, he was the son of the late Stanley and Clarissa Carr. Wayne was a Mine Assessor for the New Brunswick Department of Natural Resources, until his retirement. He was a member of St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th degrees and also a former member of the Geary Lions Club. In addition to his wife, Wayne is survived by his cousins, Eugene Grasse of Geary, NB and Arthur (Debbie) Carr of Douglas, NB; uncle, Ray Carr and his wife Myrtle of Fredericton, NB; sister-in-law, Elizabeth (John) Walsh of Douglas, NB; brother-in-law, Paul Vandenbroeck of Edmonton, AB; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Monday, May 2, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. All members of the Knights of Columbus are asked to gather at the funeral home at 7 pm for prayers. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 12 noon with Father John Jennings and Father Ken Weir as celebrants. Pallbearers for the service will be Joseph Carr, Earl Davidson, Sherman Neilson, Wendell Banks, Murray Crouse and Ron Phillips. Interment will take place in St. Anthony’s Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
