Obituary of Joachim Thurnheer

The passing of Joachim “Jack” Thurnheer of Fredericton, NB, husband of Alice (Jordan) Thurnheer occurred on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at the Pine Grove Nursing Home. Born on July 31, 1923 in Berneck, Switzerland, he was the son of the late Joachim and Meta (Graf) Thurnheer. Joachim was the manager of University Press. He’s was an avid stamp and coin collector. In addition to his wife, Jack is survived by his son, Richardo Thurnheer (Ruth Mullin) of Fredericton, NB; Alice’s children, Carolyn Pellow of Fredericton, NB and Lloyd Boone (Ellen) of Stoney Creek, ON; sister, Hilde Alder of Romanshorn, Switzerland; brothers, Walter Thurnheer (Bethli) of Kessville, Switzerland and Werner Thurnheer (Lisbeth) of Heiden, Switzerland; three nieces and seven nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Alice Schilling. Visitation will take place at St. Margaret’s Anglican Church, 775 Forest Hill Road on Friday, April 29, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place from the church on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 2 pm with Canon Jon Lownds officiating and Major Lloyd Boone assisting. Honourary Pallbearers will be Karam Chandra, Walter Currie, Darrell Jones and Gordon Cole. Interment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery. Special thanks to Karam Chandra for being such a faithful visitor and the management and staff of Pine Grove Nursing Home for their excellent care.
