Obituary of Lilla Riley

The passing of Lilla Grace Riley of Fredericton, NB occurred on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at York Manor Nursing Home. Born on December 25, 1916 in Toronto, ON, she was the daughter of the late John and Grace Doris Riley. She was a veteran of WWII and was the first female air force mechanic. She then retired as a dental technician. Lilla was a member of Highfield Baptist Church, Moncton, NB. Lilla is survived by her four brothers, Hugh Riley of Fredericton, NB, Jack Riley of Lynn, MA, Pat Riley of Douglas, NB and Stan Riley (Lillian) of North Bay, ON; sister, Mary Lewis (Ernest) of Sussex, NB and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Lilla was predeceased by one brother, Alec Douglas Riley and sisters-in-law, Ada Riley, Gladys Riley, Thelma Riley, Helen Riley. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB, on Monday, April 25, 2011 from 7-9 pm. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4 are asked to assemble at York Funeral Home on Monday, April 25, 2011 at 7 pm for a tribute service. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 2 pm with Pastor Peter Thomas officiating. Interment will take place in the New Maryland United Church Cemetery. Donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
