Obituary of Winston White

Winston Edward White, of Fredericton (Marysville), was surrounded by his family as he passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on June 23, 1941 in Fredericton he was a son of the late Edward and Lena White. He managed and owned Simpson Building Contractors for 30 years; was on the board of directors for the Fredericton Construction Association where he held the position of President in 1978. He was a pitcher for 20 years in the NB senior baseball league and was inducted into the NB baseball hall of fame. Winston had a passion for golfing; he was a member of the Fredericton Golf Club for 40 years, other interests included; hunting, canoeing, skiing and whitewater rafting. Winston is survived by his wife, Jane (Mountain-Denyer) and five children; daughters, Tracey Grasse (Scott), Barbi Litalien (Mike), Patti Morrison (Jim) and sons, Brent White (Tessa Walsh) and Kirk White (Mandy Thomas). He loved and was very proud of his nine grandchildren; MacKenzie and Haley Grasse, Brad White and Matthew Estey, Anissa and Sophie Litalien, Connor, Ailsa and Brett Morrison; his brother, Ken White (Gloria) of Oakville, Ontario; sister, Beatrice Hoyt (Dave) of Belleisle, will miss him too, as well as his nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Winston was predeceased by his son, Brad and daughter, Heather. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Tuesday from 7-9 pm and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from Crosspoint Wesleyan Church on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 2 pm with Rev. Conard Symonds officiating. Pallbearers are Billy Saunders, Gary Flinn, Donnie DeMerchant, Laurie Savage, Ron Harriott and Hayward Rollins; Honourary Pallbearers are Bob Kenny, Gordon Simpson, Ray McGee, Bud Bird and Dr. Harold Touchie. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Kingsclear Kilburn Community Cemetery Fund or the charity of the donor’s choice.
