Obituary of Joseph Richard

The passing of Joseph Maxime “Paul” Richard of Fredericton, NB, husband of Deborah Jean (Booker) Richard, occurred on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on September 11, 1943 in Rogersville, NB, he was the son of the late Leo and Stella (Babineau) Richard. He worked as a Linesman for NB Power for 33 years and was known to his fellow co-workers as “Rocky”. He volunteered at the DECRH for ten years. Paul was an avid golfer, enjoyed the races, antique car shows, all sports, his vegetable garden and travel, especially going south in the winter. Since his retirement, he enjoyed starting his day by meeting his buddies at Tim’s for a coffee. In addition to his wife, Paul is survived by his step daughter, Shelly Roberts (William) of Saint John, NB; step son, Michael Ritchie (April) of Fredericton, NB; five grandchildren, Cameron, Drake, Grant, Grace Ritchie and Mattix Roberts; sisters, Lea Rahm (Robert) of Ontario, Bernice Sharpe (Stanley) of Keswick, NB, Beverly Stone (Bill) of Davidson Lake, NB; brothers, Peter Nason (Lorelle) of Saint John, NB and Richard Nason (Marie) of Fredericton, NB; sister-in-law, Carol Winzar of Bathurst, NB; one aunt and one uncle in Rogersville, NB; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents and adoptive parents, Allen and Dee Nason, he was predeceased by his sisters, Leonie Richard, Rosemary Nason and one brother, Tony Winzar. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Sunday, April 10, 2011 from 2-4 pm. A Memorial Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Monday, April 11, 2011 at 2 pm with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Interment will take place in Sunny Bank Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Chalmers Hospital Foundation or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
