Obituary of Weldon Vroom

The passing of Weldon Franklin Vroom, of Fredericton, NB, husband of the late Marion Ruth (Fletcher) Vroom, occurred on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born at home on April 3, 1922 in Rosedale, Carleton County, NB, he was a son of the late Fred and Faye (Hendry) Vroom. Weldon was an active member of Greenwood Drive Baptist Church and Honourary Member of Rotary International. Weldon graduated from Hartland High School before moving to Fredericton in 1939, and then graduated from Ponds Secretarial School, prior to employment with Greens Electrical Service. Weldon then worked at Zellers Department Store; he completed his career as owner/operator of E. M. Young Ltd., Hardware and Building Supplies. He is survived by his children, Brian Vroom, Elizabeth Fairley (Harry) and Marsha Rector (Terry) all of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Kimberly Withrow (Jason), Wade Vroom (Karen), Patrick Fairley (Victoria), Sarah Fairley and Brandon Rector; great grandchildren, Erika and Tyler Withrow; sister, Marjorie Gray of Niagara Falls, ON; aunt, Evelyn Kelly of Fredericton, NB; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Weldon was predeceased by one infant brother, Frederick; sister, Lena Vroom and daughter-in-law, Elaine Vroom. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Sunday, June 3, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at Greenwood Drive Baptist Church on Monday, June 4, 2012 at 2 pm with Rev. Gordon Cook and Rev. Laurie Fenerty officiating. A Family Interment will take place at Sunny Bank Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or the Greenwood Drive Baptist Church would be appreciated by the family.
