The passing of Burton “Burt” Edwin Springer of Fredericton, NB, occurred on Monday, July 11, 2011 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on February 4, 1930 in Jemseg, NB, he was the son of the late Myrtle Foster (Slocum) and Wallace Earle Springer. He was a retired technician from NB Tel. In his younger years, Burt enjoyed fishing, hunting and repairing anything that needed fixing; he also had a great appreciation of music and loved to dance. He was an Affiliate Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4, a member of the Senior’s League at the Bowl-A-Drome, Main Street, Fredericton, a member of the Candlepin Bowlers Association, and was an avid cribbage player and loyal blood donor. Burt is survived by his two sons, Frank (Shirley) and Brent (Annette) all of Fredericton, NB and the mother of his children, Laura Springer; grandchildren, Scott, Matthew, Michael, Joseph, Jordan, Jami and Allison; great grandchildren, Kyler, Breanna, Brooklyn, Andrew, Drew, Carter, Ashton and Mary Jane; brothers, Lorne (Alice) of Edmonton, AB and Russell of Moncton, NB; several nieces, nephews including ‘Young’ George, and special friends, Edith Gallagher and Pat Russell. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Barb and brothers, George and Bill. Although there will be no visitation by request; a Memorial Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 2 pm with Rev. Greg Geldart officiating. Followed by a reception in the Fireside Room. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4.
