Obituary of Bertie Woodcock

The passing of Bertie Austin Woodcock of McGivney, NB, husband of Joyce (Urqhuart) Woodcock, occurred on Monday, August 29, 2011 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on December 5, 1933 in Fredericton, NB, he was the son of the late Hedley and Sadie (Davidson) Woodcock. He was a Woodsworker. Bertie was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He liked watching baseball and was a committed Blue Jays Fan and enjoyed watching the Little League World Series. In addition to his wife, Bertie is survived by his children, Wanda Green (Gordon), Francine Howe (Leo), Jocelyn Gregorowich (Len), Miles (Judy) Woodcock, Lorraine Waugh, Dana (Patricia) Woodcock, Starr Thompson, Jennifer Derrah (Kevin Brown), Wade Woodcock, Lisa Gilmore (Ivan) and Robin Woodcock (Mark Young); sister, Laura Stewart; brothers, Eddy (Wanda) and Freddy (Elaine); numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Owen. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at 11am with Pastor Gordon Green officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be JR Gilmore, Aaron Woodcock, Ben Green, Jonah Woodcock, Bradley Derrah and Jeremy Good; Honourary Pallbearers are Joel Gilmore, Dylan Woodcock, Ashley Woodcock and Chandler Woodcock-Ryan. Interment will take place at McGivney Community Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the McGivney Community Cemetery Fund, New Brunswick Lung Association or the charity of the donor’s choice.
