Obituary of Joan Hawkins
The passing of Joan Eloise Hawkins of Fredericton, NB, wife of Basil Hawkins, occurred on their 56th Wedding Anniversary, Saturday, August 27, 2011 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on January 14, 1933 in Maple Ridge, NB, she was the daughter of the late William and Eva (Dove) Sharp. She was a bookkeeper at Atkinson & Atkinson, worked for and was bookkeeper at the family business, Hawkins Equipment for many years. Joan loved to travel, playing bingo, reading, her family and friends. In addition to her husband, Joan is survived by her daughter, Penny (Ralph) Pringle of Scotchtown, NB; son, Brent (Elva) Hawkins of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Cara (Lynnsey) Pringle, Shane (Pammy) Pringle, Christina Hawkins and Melissa Hawkins (Cody Bradley); great grandson, Cooper Pringle; brothers, Dale (Dena) Sharp of Sussex, NB and Billy Sharp (Linda Lawson) of Fredericton, NB; sisters-in-law, Eileen Williams and Maxine (John) Torunski all of Fredericton, NB; nieces, Gail, Sandy, Kelly, Tammy, Tara, Cindy and nephew, Stephen. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Arlene Goguen; mother-in-law, Vera Hawkins and brother-in-law, Irvine Williams. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at 2 pm with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be Shane Pringle, Bill Matthews, Keith Burgess, John Rankin, Ron Ashfield and Paul Embleton; Honourary Pallbearers are Harold and Clara Hatfield, Gerry Crouse, Paul and Marie Watson, Dave and Pat Clark, Jane Sheridan, Charlene Boone, Nora Currie, Garth and Gaynell Williams, Maureen Buckingham, Paul and Veronica Devereau, Nancy McGarvie, Wendall and Carla Inman, Neil and Gail MacDonald, Tina Matthews and Frankie Ashfield.
