Obituary of Joseph Cormier
The passing of Joseph “Henry” Cormier, of Fredericton, NB, occurred on August 19, 2011 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton, NB. Born on April 21, 1922 in Moncton, NB, Henry was a son of the late Zoel Cormier and Alice (Gauvin) Cormier Vautour. Henry retired from the Canadian Armed Forces Provost Corp in 1972. He finished his career working for security at the Dorval Airport in Montreal and at the Moncton Airport.
Henry is survived by his son, Richard Cormier (Margaret) of Nackawic, NB; two daughters, Roberta Vaniersel (Frank) of Okotoks, AB and Patricia Cormier-Fox (Robert) of Fredericton, NB; two grandsons, Stephen Fox (Michelle) of Fredericton, NB and David Fox of Vancouver, BC; seven granddaughters, Tina Gaudreau (Todd Logue) of Fredericton, NB, Tara Cormier (Lee MacKenzie) of Toronto, ON, Andrea Cormier (Matt Stillwell) of Fredericton, NB, Jennifer Fox of Vancouver, BC, Sharon Fox of Fredericton, NB, Daniella Vaniersel and Michelle Vaniersel of Okotoks, AB; one great-granddaughter Eleanor Halfyard of Fredericton, NB; brother-in-law Don Geldart of Truro, NS. He is also survived by his many friends at 300 Reynolds St.
Besides his parents, Henry was predeceased by one daughter, Pauline Cormier; one sister, Camilla Geldart; and his stepfather Philibert Vautour.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 from 7-9 pm and on Thursday, August 25, 2011 from 10-11 am. A Memorial Service will be held from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 11 am with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Interment will take place in Sunny Bank Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be to the Canadian Arthritis Society or the charity of the donor’s choice.
