Obituary of Ethel Sweeney
The passing of Ethel Beatrice Sweeney of Durham Bridge, NB, wife of the late Fred Sweeney occurred on Monday, August 15, 2011 at the Nashwaak Villa, Stanley, NB. Born on June 3, 1923 in Murray Harbour North, PEI, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Isabelle (Henderson) Reid. Ethel was a Veteran of WWII. She was a member of the Nashwaak Village Baptist Church and the Upper Durham Women’s Institute.
Ethel is survived by her daughters, Jocelyn Sweeney (Len Bennett) of Durham Bridge, NB, Dianne Lint and Lori (Thomas) Deuville both of Saint John, NB and Myrna Sweeney of Durham Bridge, NB; sons, Eugene (Linda) Sweeney of Saint John, NB, Michael Sweeney and Darren Sweeney both of Durham Bridge, NB; 12 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sister, Priscilla Richards of Murray River, PEI and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Ethel was predeceased by her sisters, Alexia King, Rena Stewart and Annie Reid; infant brother, Gordon Reid and brothers, Lloyd, Ivan, Stewart, Reginald, Gordon and Sterling and son-in-law, Tony Lint.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at Nashwaak Village United Baptist Church on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 2 pm with Rev. Allison MacLean officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be Darren, Michael, Tommy, Justin and Cody Sweeny and Stephen Lint. Interment will take place in Upper Durham Cemetery.
