Obituary of J. Carl Finlay

The passing of J. Carl Finlay, husband of Dale E. (Spear) Finlay, of Cross Creek, NB, occurred on Monday, May 21, 2012 at his home. Born on February 25, 1932 in Kincardine, ON, he was a son of the late Calvert and Sadie (Colling) Finlay. Carl farmed on the family farm. He was a former truck owner/operator working for Arnold Brothers Transport. He was a past member of the Ontario Cattlebreeders Association. Carl enjoyed gardening and bird watching but most of all his family. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Greg Finlay (Carol) of Waterloo, ON, Paul Finlay of Toronto, ON, Jeff Finlay (Laurie) of Oxford, AL, Carla Nehring (Kurt) of Bright, ON, Sharon Francis (Lloyd) of Public Landing, NB and Janice Thomas (Robert) of Cross Creek, NB; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, June Shoemaker (Frank) of Gabriella Island, BC; brother, Ron Finlay (Betty Jean) of Bruce Beach, ON and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 2 pm with Rev. Dr. Brad Little officiating. Interment will take place at Fairhaven Memorial Gardens, Moncton, NB at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
