Obituary of Grace Lunergan

Grace I. Lunergan passed away at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Monday, December 5, 2011, at the age of 91. She was born on October 4, 1920 to the late Partlow and Nettie (Munroe) Pickard. She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Robert who passed away on November 25, 1985. With heavy hearts and fond memories she leaves to mourn her daughters, Sharon Darrah (Bob) and their children, Richard Darrah, Deborah Wesley (Bob) and Sherri Darrah (Roger Cook) and her daughter, Judy Hunter (Hazen) and their children, Shelley Davidson (Ross), Joanne Greer (Dale) and Todd Hunter; her great grandchildren, Brittany Darrah, Jamilyn, Sarah and Samantha Wesley and Sophie and Bronwen Cook, Abbey and Morgan Greer, Brody, Colby and Tristan Davidson and Alaina McInnis were referred to by her “as the icing on the cake”; sisters-in-law, June Pickard and Muriel Pickard; nieces and nephews and many dear friends. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Grace was predeceased by brothers, Donald and Buster; sisters, Guida Chapman (Elton), Ferne Ward (Elmer) and Mae Ward (Murray). Always interested in politics at any level, she was past president of Queens North Liberal Association and past president of Four Lakes Senior Citizens. She was a member of Scotchtown United Church. After the death of her husband, she spent the winters in Florida and summers at Sunnyside Beach and felt she had the best of both worlds. Her last year was spent at Thomas Hall (Shannex), we are so thankful for the loving care received from the great staff at that facility. Also many thanks to the nursing staff on 4SE for the professionalism and care she received at the end of her journey. Cremation will take place at her request, although there will be no visitation; a graveside service will take place at Ripples Community Cemetery, 219 Ripples Station Road on Thursday, December 8, 2011at 2 pm with Rev. Gil MacKenzie officiating. No flowers by request, for those who wish remembrances may be made to the Fredericton Branch of the Red Cross or to the Ripples Cemetery Fund.
