Obituary of Lillian Grattan
It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our wonderful and loving Mother, Lillian Grattan of Royal Road, Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Everette J. Grattan. Lillian passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Tuesday, October 25, 2011. Born in South Shields, England, she was the daughter of the late Lauritz Peter and Edith Johansen. She followed her beloved husband, Everette on his return to Canada at the end of WW2 settling initially in Tabusintac, NB and then later making Fredericton their permanent home. She was a member of The Fredericton Warbrides Association and was proud to be one of The Fredericton Singing Warbrides. She is survived by three sons, Rick (Rolande) of Kingsley, NB, Everette Jr. (Brenda) of Penniac, NB, and Danny (Kathy) of Woodstock, NB; one daughter, Elaine (Stephen Banks) of Fredericton, NB; daughter-in-law, Doreen Yasinski of Winnipeg; sisters-in-law, Calma Harding (Lorne) of Tabusintac, NB, and Eleanor Carroll of Oromocto, NB as well as nine grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Everette, she was predeceased by her only sister, Anina “Nina” (Hart) of England; her eldest son, Laurie; grandson, David Banks and great granddaughter, Shana Greer.
In keeping with Mum’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A private graveside service will be held at a later date in St. George’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Covedell, NB. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chalmers Foundation – Palliative Care Unit or to a charity of the donor's choice. Special thanks to her Doctors and to the Nurses of 4SE and 3East, for treating Mum with the respect and tenderness that she so deserved.
