Obituary of Rex Donnelly

The passing of Rex Elwood Donnelly, formally of Storeytown, NB, occurred on October 17, 2011 at the Central NB Nursing Home in Boiestown. Born on December 11, 1926 in Storeytown, he was a son of the late Allen and Pansy (Beek) Donnelly. Rex was previously employed as a woodsman with Russell & Swims. He was affiliated with St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Doaktown and enjoyed horses, hunting and fishing. Rex truly loved children. Even without having any of his own, he chose to care for many. Rex is survived by his stepmother, Prescilla Donnelly of Doaktown; sisters, Norma Moore of Fredericton and Ruby Kostiuk (Ernie) of Alberta; half brothers, York Donnelly (Brenda) of Doaktown and Selwyn Donnelly (Trudy) of Alberta; half sister, Valerie O’Donnell (Clark) of New Bandon; sister-in-law, Shirley Donnelly of Black River Bridge, several nieces and nephews; his chosen family, Bud and Mary Lou O’Donnell and family of Storeytown. In addition to his parents, Rex was predeceased by a sister, Evelyn Donnelly; brothers, Glen, Elby and infant twin brother, Roy Donnelly. Visitation will take place at Miramichi Valley Funeral Home, 7681 Route 8, New Bandon, NB on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from Miramichi Valley Funeral Home on Friday, October 21, 2011 at 11 am with Father Andrew Fraser officiating. Pallbearers for the service are Robert Stewart, Terry O’Donnell, Bill Langton, Kimball Amos, Mitchell and Derrick Russell; Honourary Pallbearers are George Betts, Arvel Storey, Vincent Beek, Willis McAlwee, Ralph H. Beek and James O’Donnell. Interment will take place in St. Andrew’s Anglican Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
