Obituary of Wendell McNeill

The passing of Wendell Franklyn McNeill of Fredericton, NB, husband of Pearl (Starkes) McNeill occurred on Friday, October 7, 2011 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on November 19, 1942 in Fredericton, NB, he was the son of Dorothy (Saunders) McNeill and the late Bruce McNeill. He worked for Sunny Glen Eggs, until his retirement. He was a tremendous statistician, especially for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Wendell loved his family deeply, he will be remembered as someone who would do anything for anybody. He had a kind heart and loved to tease. In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by his daughter, Sheila Gregg and son, Michael McNeill both of Fredericton, NB; one grandson, Simon Gregg; sisters, Sandra (Peter) Currie of Keswick Ridge, NB and Kathy (Steve) Smith of Antigonish, NS; brothers, Wayne McNeill (Marilyn) and Gary McNeill (Jana Andersen) all of Keswick Ridge, NB and Laurie McNeill (Sharon) of Fredericton, NB; sisters-in-law, Lilly Gilley and Mae Hunt both of NF, Edith (Arthur) Starkes of Toronto, ON and Christine (Eugene) Collins of NF; brother-in-laws, Jake (Pat) Starkes, Steve (Ethel) Starkes all of NF, George Starkes of Ajax, ON; Fred (Marilyn) Starkes of NF and Rocky Starkes of Dartmouth, NS; several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Sunday, October 9, 2011 from 4-7 pm. A Funeral Service will take place from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Monday, October 10, 2011 at 11 am with Rev. Peter Beckwith officiating. Pallbearers for the service are Wayne, Gary, Laurie McNeill, Peter Currie, Steve Smith and James Upshaw. Interment will take place in Douglas Rural Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Canadian Diabetes Association, Chalmers Hospital Foundation or the charity of the donor’s choice.
