Obituary of Roy LaRochelle

Roy John LaRochelle was born on May 14, 1928 in North Bay, Ontario, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Henrietta LaRochelle. He passed away peacefully on Monday, April 23, 2012, at the age of 83, at the Doctor Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Roy is survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years, Grace; his devoted son, Wayne (Cathy); his dear sister, Inez Ricamore (of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan). He will be sadly missed by his beloved granddaughters, Hannah and Megan; sisters-in-law, Edna Almond of Kamloops, BC, Eleanor Hughes of Charlottetown, PEI, Claire MacEwen of Fredericton, NB; and brother-in-law, Alan Paquet (Maureen) of Summerside, PEI. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Roy was predeceased by his son, Joseph and his brothers, Ken LaRochelle and Bill LaRochelle. Roy retired in 1986 after a long and successful career from the Canadian Pacific Railway. Upon retirement, Roy and Grace enjoyed many years of travelling including winters in the Southern US, and visiting family and friends throughout Canada and the United States. Roy enjoyed many years of golf with his wife and spending time and spoiling his dearly loved granddaughters. Roy found fulfillment in being with his family and took great pride and pleasure in maintaining his home, garden and vehicles. Roy particularly enjoyed keeping his family, friends, and especially his granddaughters entertained with his unique sense of humour. Roy always found great comfort and contentment in his faith, and his family will draw on this during their time of loss. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Thursday, April 26, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church on Friday, April 27, 2012 at 11 am with Father John Jennings as celebrant. Interment will take place in the Hermitage Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Fredericton Community Kitchen or to the charity of the donor’s choice in Roy’s memory would be appreciated by the family.
