Obituary of Vernon Thomas
The passing of Vernon Lovell Thomas of Cross Creek, NB, husband of Linda (Clark) Thomas, occurred on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at the Nashwaak Villa, Stanley, NB. Born on June 9, 1933 in Cross Creek, NB, he was the son of the late Herbert and Janie (Sherrad) Thomas. Vernon was a member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Cross Creek, NB. He was a truck driver for James Sparkes and Son’s Saw Mill. Vernon had worked for Bowater Pulp and Paper as a Gate Guardian. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially his grandchildren. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
In addition to his wife, Vernon is survived by his sons, Dale Thomas (Jaime MacKay) and Matthew Thomas (Lindsey Hughes) all of Cross Creek, NB; grandchildren, Cole, Adrian ”AJ” and Kayleigh Thomas; sisters in law, Edress and Eva Thomas; several nieces and nephews; special chosen daughter, Maryann Thomas of Stanley, NB. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Fern and Beatrice Pringle and Annie Merrill; brothers, Osborne and Herbert Thomas.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 2 pm with Father Ian Wetmore officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be Brian Merrill, Robert Thomas, Kevin Thomas, Danny Sparkes, Nathan Pringle and Lovell Pringle. Interment will take place in St. Paul’s Anglican Church Cemetery. A reception will follow at the St. Thomas Anglican Church Hall. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the St. Paul’s Anglican Church Cemetery, New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation, Alzheimer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
