Obituary of John Collins

The passing of John Henry Collins of McGivney, NB, husband of the late Pauline Collins occurred on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on July 29, 1931 in NB, he was the son of the late John and Margaret (McConvey) Collins. He was a Veteran of the Korean War. John worked for the CNR, retiring after 40 years. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion – Nashwaak Bridge, Beaverbrook Branch #80. John is survived by his daughter, Edna Peterson of McGivney, NB; four sons, Dwaine Collins of McGivney, NB, Terry Collins of Fredericton, NB, Donnie Collins (Laura) of McGivney, NB and Bradley Collins of Bosnia; numerous grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sisters, Myrtle Doak and Thelma Palmer both of McGivney, NB; several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents, John was predeceased by his daughter, Elaine Collins; son, Timothy Collins; great granddaughter, Ariana; sisters, Elva, Shirley and one infant sister, Jean; brothers, Rocky, Billy, Vernard and Cecil and son in law, Hal Peterson. Visitation will take place in York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, April 12, 2012 from 11am-12:30 pm, followed at 1 pm by a funeral service with Pastor Pat McAloon officiating. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #80 are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 1 pm for a Legion Tribute Service. Interment will take place in McGivney Community Cemetery.
