Obituary of Bonita "Bonnie" Grant

Grant, Bonita “Bonnie” Gayle Bonita “Bonnie” Gayle Grant, 69, of Fredericton, NB, died on Sunday, April 8, 2012 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital held in love by her family. She was born June 23, 1942, the daughter of Blanche and Larry Horncastle. She married Robert “Bob” Grant, her husband of forty eight years and they became the proud parents of Brent and Peter. Bonnie began her professional career as an elementary school teacher; she received her MEd from the University of New Brunswick and served as a Principal and Vice Principle in the Fredericton School District. She was an exemplary educator who guided her students to share her passion for learning. Filled with compassion and an interest in others, Bonnie was blessed with many close friendships which she celebrated. Her greatest love was for her family especially her grandchildren who provided her with many joyous moments. Bonnie’s sense of humour and her loving, energetic nature endeared her to all. She created many cherished memories and has left an indelible mark upon the many lives she touched. Bonnie is survived by husband, Robert; sons, Brent (Kelly) and Peter Grant; grandchildren, Jack, Max, Marcus, Lauren and Sydney Grant; sisters, Maxine Coyle and Heather Akin (Rick); brother, Kim Horncastle (Theresa); sister in law, Sybil Grant; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Bonnie is predeceased by parents, Blanche and Larry Horncastle; infant sister, Nancy Leigh; mother and father in law, Jack and Ethel Grant; sister in law, Margaret (Grant) Nason and brother in law, Robert “Bob” Coyle. Visitation will take place at the Gibson Memorial United Church Hall, 183 Gibson Street on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Memorial Service will take place on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at 2 pm from the Gibson Memorial United Church with Rev. Cora Krommenhoek officiating. Reception will follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Bonnie’s memory may be made to the Chalmers Foundation, New Brunswick Lung Association or the charity of the donor’s choice.
