Obituary of William Howe
The passing of William “Bill” Melvin Howe, husband of Eva Jean (Meade) Howe, of Fredericton, NB, occurred on March 19, 2012 at Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on September 18, 1926 in Taymouth, NB, he was a son of the late William and Hazel (MacFadgen) Howe. Bill was a Supervisor of Engineering and Maintenance with Federal Forestry. He was affiliated with Wilmot United Church. Bill enjoyed salmon fishing, bowling, golfing and square dancing. Bill was a square dance caller, making many friends with whom he travelled to many square dancing events. Bill’s passion was his family and his camp on the Nashwaak.
Besides his wife, Bill is survived by his daughters, Darlene (David) Durling, Jean (Bill) Whitlock and Cheryl (Stephen) Smith; grandchildren, Steven (Julie) Whitlock, Tim Whitlock, Ross Durling, Sarah and Chris Smith; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Greta Parker, Amelia Meade, Earl Howe and Preston Howe; step-father, Rankin Moore.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 from 7-9 pm and Thursday, March 22, 2012 from 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Friday, March 23, 2012 at 10:30 am with the Very Rev. Dr. Peter Short officiating. Interment will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery, Burton, NB at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
