Obituary of Kathleen Fox

The passing of Kathleen (Salkeld) Fox of Fredericton, NB, occurred on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at the York Care Centre. Born on July 10, 1919 in England, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Rose Salkeld. Kathleen moved to Canada in 1965. Many years ago she belonged to the Overseas Women’s Club. She was an avid bingo player, one of her greatest joys was knitting, especially baby sets; she will be remembered for her community wealth of flowers having shared her garden with many, starting a beautiful trend in her area of New Brunswick. Kathleen was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Fox-Pelletier (Gaston) of Springfield, York Co., NB, Elaine Merrett of Stouffville, ON and Carole Grout (Michael) of Loughborough, England; ten grandchildren; two step grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, first husband, Hughie Henshawal, second husband, Charles Fox, she was predeceased by her son, Ian Gregory Fox; sister, Margaret Ive and brothers, Alan, Albert, John and Keith Salkeld. There will be no services by Kathleen’s request. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the NB Chapter of the SPCA; Fredericton SPCA; New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
