Obituary of Donald McKinley

The family of Donald “Don” Burton McKinley, of Marysville, NB, husband of Katherine “Kay” (Saunders) McKinley are saddened to announce that Don lost his battle after a lengthy stay at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at the at the age of 76. Born on February 24, 1935, he was the son of the late Burton and Elva (Wade) McKinley. Don retired from NB Power after 32 years of service where he enjoyed being a member of the 25 year club. He loved hunting, fishing and spending time at his camp on the Dungarvon with family and friends. He also enjoyed Country music and writing poetry. Don had many good friends and would want you all to remember all the good times shared. In addition to his wife of 56 years, Don is survived by his son, Kevin (Melanie) McKinley; three daughters, Kathy Lynn McKinley, Patti (Wayne) Miller and Donna (Jody) Chappelle; six grandchildren, Andrew Miller, Darcie McKinley, Lucas McKinley, Michael McKinley, Carson Chappelle and Kaitlyn Chappelle; one sister Geraldine (Frank) Brown; two brothers, Neddy (Shirley) and Danny W. McKinley (Shirley) of Jasper, AB; several, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents Don was predeceased by his grandparents, Daniel and Elizabeth (Ashton) McKinley and Hiram and Floretta (Collings) Wade and an infant son Terry. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A Memorial Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 2pm with Rev. Laurie D. Fenerty officiating. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Marysville Baptist Cemetery.
