Obituary of Edna Ogilvie
The passing of Edna M. Ogilvie of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Malcolm D. Ogilvie occurred on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on May 14, 1911 in Plaster Rock, NB, she was the daughter of the late Alfred C. and May I. (Dann) Moorcroft. In her early years, she was a member of St. George’s Anglican Church in McAdam, NB, where she was very active in the church and was a long time member of the choir. She then moved to Fredericton and became a member of St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church. Edna was an avid bridge player, enjoyed gardening and loved to grow peas, she also liked to camp, where she had numerous memories with her husband, travelling throughout New Brunswick, Ontario and Maine.
Edna is survived by her son, Gerald Ogilvie (Shirley) of Fredericton, NB; granddaughter, Sandra Taylor (Stephen) of New Dundee, ON; grandson, Robert Ogilvie of Fredericton, NB; special niece, Shirley Holcomb of Orillia, ON and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her, sisters, Edith Hawthorne, Evelyn Kennedy and Erma Hill and her brother, Harry Moorcroft.
Although there will be no visitation; a Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 2 pm with Canon Bill MacMullin officiating. Interment will take place in St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association, Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of the donor’s choice.
