Obituary of Ronald Osborne

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected death of Ronald “Ron” Albert Osborne of Burtts Corner, NB, husband of Donna (Dillon) Osborne on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. He was 73 years of age. Born on November 5, 1938 at Grand Lake, NS, he was the son of the late Ritchie and Emily Ann (Isenor) Osborne. Ron retired after 27 years with the Royal Canadian Electrical Mechanical Engineers (R.C.E.M.E). After retiring from the military, Ron drove a school bus for 10 years. Ron was an avid salmon and sea trout fisherman. He and Donna spent most of their summers camping on the Miramichi. Ron enjoyed gardening, picking fiddleheads, and raising pheasants. He also had a real knack for fixing things. Ron could also be found watching all kinds of sports on TV. He was a big fan of both the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays. Ron was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and a friend to many. Ron and Donna would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 26, 2012. Ron is survived by his wife, Donna (Dillon); his three sons, Steven (Kim) and their children, Thayer “T.J.” and Nicholas of Hampton, NB, Allen of Kitchener, ON and Wayne (Suzanne) and their children, Eric and Anna of Fredericton, NB. He is also survived by one brother, Terry (Paulette) of Stewiacke East, NS; several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Ron was predeceased by brothers, Aubrey, Bernard, Ritchie Jr.; sisters, Elda, Eunice, and twin sisters in infancy. Visiting hours will be held at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Saturday, January 7, 2012 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Service will be held at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Sunday, January 8, 2012 at 2 pm. with Rev. Carl and Evelyn Brewer officiating. Pallbearers will be Wendell Brewer, Edward Hawkins, Stephen Brewer, Jerry Brown, TJ Osborne, and Nicholas Osborne. Interment will take place in Burtts Corner Community Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested donations to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
