Obituary of William Gerald Sanford

Sanford, William Gerald “Gerry” It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Gerry Sanford of Fredericton, NB, husband of Muriel (Clark) Sanford, which occurred on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on January 3, 1941 in Digby, NS, he was a son of the late Gerald and Lois (Walker) Sanford. After graduating from High School, Gerry served as a member of the RCMP, retiring in April 1995 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Gerry spent his leisure time salmon fishing, hunting, curling, golfing and bowling in which he was an expert! Since his retirement he has enjoyed gathering with the “Liars Club” at Frank’s Finer Diner for coffee. His two daughters and four grandchildren were his pride and joy. We will all miss his quirky sense of humour and the fact that he was there for us whenever needed. In addition to his wife, Gerald is survived by his daughters, Pamela MacDonald (Paul) of Douglas, NB and Deborah Mills (Michael) of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Jenna and Kira MacDonald and Megan and Matthew Mills all of Fredericton, NB; sister, Nancy Williams (Graham) of North Saanich, BC. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Saturday, December 17, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Memorial Service will be held from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at 2 pm with Rev. J. D. Kennedy officiating. For those who wish, remembrances made to the Parkinson Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
