Obituary of Elizabeth Kerr

The passing of Elizabeth “Betty” Ethel Kerr, of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Bob Kerr occurred on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on August 30, 1934 in Moncton, NB, she was a daughter of the late George and Ethel (Bradley) MacCallum. Betty is survived by her children, Pam Barteaux of Fredericton, NB, Dr. Lee Barteaux and his partner Dr. Andy Beardow of Portland, ME and Dr. Penny-Lou Barteaux and her partner, Bill Zettel of Elmira, ON. Three grandchildren, Tim, Greg and Katie Misener also reside in Elmira, ON. Betty has two surviving sisters, Myrtle Daubney of Ottawa, ON and Patricia vanRaalte (Gerrit) of Fredericton, NB. Betty was a loving aunt to several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Elizabeth was predeceased by her sisters, Kathleen McAuley of Cove Head, PEI and Mary Jean Gardner of Chatham ON. Betty was an Elementary and Junior High School Teacher in Nashwaaksis for 24 years before retiring in 1997. She also worked with Special Needs students at Nashwaaksis Junior High School as a Method and Resource Teacher tailoring the curriculum to their specific academic requirements. She was a member of the Wilmot United Church, where she served as an elder for 5 years. She enjoyed card games especially bridge, dancing, music and playing the piano and she had a deep compassion for animals. A Service celebrating Betty’s life will be held at the Wilmot United Church on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at 2 pm with Rev. Bob Jones officiating. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Fredericton SPCA, Canadian Red Cross or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be made through www.yorkfh.com
