Obituary of Marie Irvine-Breau

It is with great sadness that the family of Marie Odila “Della” (Gaudet) Irvine-Breau wife of Gerald Breau of Fredericton, NB, announces her passing on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, Palliative Care Unit after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Born on May 16, 1945 in St. Norbert, Kent County, she was the daughter of the late Marc Gaudet (1976) and the late Leona Babineau (1960). She has resided in Fredericton for 49 years. Della, as she was commonly known, was named after her paternal grandmother, Odile (Leger) Gaudet and before her recent retirement, worked at the former Victoria Public Hospital for a number of years before going to work for dentist Dr. John McMullen and Dr. Val Biskupski for over 30 years. She was a past member of the NB Dental Assistants Association and served in various capacities within that organization. She was an ardent supporter of the MicMac Trailer Park where she also served in a number of executive functions for its operations/committees. In addition to her husband, Della is survived by her two daughters, Lisa Gaudet (Kevin) of Fredericton, NB and Shelley Delong (Jamie) of Calgary, AB; two grandchildren, Parker and Paige who she adored and loved so much; three sisters, Leonice Gallant (Leo Paul) of Aldouane, Lucia Richard (Paul) of Maquapit Lake and Andrea Gallant (Gilles) of Rusagonis; three brothers, Alcide Gaudet (Anita) of New Maryland, Theodore “Ted” and Edward Gaudet (Cathy) both of Fredericton; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law from the Irvine family and six in-laws from the Breau family; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles as well as many cousins and her favorite feline companion, Sarah. Visitation will take place on Monday, December 27, 2010 at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at 2 pm with Father Monte Peters as celebrant. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Anglican Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the DECRH Palliative Care Unit, Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, Fredericton SPCA or the Canadian Cancer Society.
