Obituary of Eleanor Harris
It is with deep regret that we announce the peaceful passing of Eleanor Jean Harris of Fredericton, NB, that occurred on January 3, 2011 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on September 9, 1932 in Caverhill, NB, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Ethel (Cunningham) Harris. In her younger years she loved to travel, having lived and worked in Vancouver for a number of years, she also lived in Winnipeg and Montreal, until due to her poor health she returned home. Eleanor was a brilliant storyteller, loved reading, doing crosswords, playing scrabble, knitting, writing poems, watching sports and loved spending time with her family. She loved her apartment on Neville Street where she met her best friend, Grace.
Eleanor is survived by her sisters, Shirley Price of Caverhill, NB and Marilyn (Bill) Maxwell of BC; brothers, William Harry Harris of BC and Terry Harris of Fredericton NB ,sister-in-law, Thelma Harris of Sussex, NB and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Hazel Ethel (Harris) Hill, Kathleen Ruth (Harris) Rogalsky; brothers, Paul Leroy, Walter and John Franklin Harris; nephews, Allen Harris and Troy Price; sisters-in-law, Vallie Harris and Evelyn Harris and brother-in-law, Aubrey Price.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 from 7-9 pm. A Memorial Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 1 pm with Lucy Warren officiating. Interment will take place in Upper Hainesville Cemetery.
