Obituary of Donald Henry

The passing of Donald “Don” Stewart Henry of Estey’s Bridge, NB, occurred on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on December 6, 1928 in Salisbury, NB, he was the son of the late Gordon and Dorothy (Reeder) Henry. Don graduated from the Maritime Forest Ranger School in the class of 1950. He worked for Bathurst Paper and then Forest Protection Ltd. in Fredericton, NB, retiring in 1987. Don was a member of Odell Collectors and Shooters Fraternity Inc. and the Lake George Gun Club. He was an avid supporter of the Atlantic Aviation Museum in Halifax, NS and had a keen interest in NB History.
Don is survived by his children, David Henry (Marlene), Carol Anderson (Myles), Helen Lint (Gerald), Andy Henry (Karen), Jocelyn Henry (Blair Smith) and their mother, Joan (Crossman) Henry; grandchildren, Jeff, Greg, Corey, Joanne, Stephen, Erin, Rachel and Nathan; sister, Helen Brown (Bill); several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Annie MacDonald and her husband, Donnie.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Sunday, January 23, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Memorial Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Monday, January 24, 2011 at 2 pm with Rev. Gil MacKenzie officiating. Honourary Pallbearers will be Phil Jensen, John Mossman, Frank MacLoon, Eldon MacNeill, Laurence Gilbey, Wilfred Patterson, Gary Moore, Dave Urquhart, Stan Ebbett, Norman Young and Carmen Dixon. Interment will take place in Pine Hill Cemetery, Salisbury, NB at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Atlantic Canada Aviation Museum, near Halifax, NS or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
