Obituary of Dorothy Coy

The passing of Dorothy “Dot” Esther Coy of Fredericton, NB, occurred on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at the York Manor Nursing Home. Born on June 15, 1909 in Upper Gagetown, NB, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Myrtle (Randall) Coy. Dorothy was a very interesting and knowledgeable lady. She loved people and enjoyed her career as an artist. In her younger years she designed labels in St. Stephen, before going to Boston where she worked in design, for a post card company called Tichnor Brothers. Dorothy returned to Canada in 1970, where she sold her paintings locally. She was a faithful member of the Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall. Dorothy was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her three sisters, Elsie Fisher, Ada Coy and Gladys McCoombs; three brothers, Edwin, Phair and Donald Coy; two sisters-in-law, Alice and Edith Coy and brothers-in-law, James McCoombs and Charles Fisher. There will be no visitation at Dorothy’s request. A Funeral Service will take place at Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall, St. Mary’s Street on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at 3 pm with Mr. Claude Gilks officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be Lester, Walter, Larry and Lyman Coy, Malcolm Fisher and William “Bud” Randall. Interment will take place in Sunny Bank Cemetery at a late date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the CNIB, York Manor Foundation or the charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
