Obituary of Donald McCurdy

The passing of Donald Gregory McCurdy of Fredericton, NB, husband of the late Jean Emily (Leavitt) McCurdy, occurred on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at the White Rapids Nursing Home. Born on May 8, 1916 in St. Andrews, NB, he was the son of the late Frederick and Margaret (Carten) McCurdy. He was a past member of the St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church. Donald was a Veteran of WWII. He was a federal employee with the Department of Transportation. Donald loved golfing, travelling camping and carpentry; he was also a member of the St. Anthony’s 90’s Club.
Donald is survived by his son, David (Heather) McCurdy of Quispamsis, NB; daughters, Geraldine Sears of Fredericton, NB and Carol (Grant) Bridge of Pickering, ON; grandchildren, Patrick and Joe Sears, Anitra Gamble, Jennifer Bridge, Dean and Derek McCurdy; nine great grandchildren; sister, Margaret Hickey of Bangor, ME; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his brother, Carten McCurdy.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Monday, March 21, 2011 from 1-2 pm; followed by a funeral service at 2 pm with Father Monte Peters as celebrant. A reception will follow in the fireside room. Interment will take place in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Moncton, NB. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Salvation Army (Fredericton Branch). Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
