Obituary of Harlan Brown

The passing of Harlan Eugene Brown of Fredericton, NB, husband of Irma (Tims) Brown, occurred on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on January 20, 1925 in Avery’s Portage (Astle), NB, he was the son of the late Leonard and Maria (Palmer) Brown. He was a Veteran of WWII, Carleton York Regiment, having served in France, Italy, Germany, Holland and England. In his early years he worked for Greens Well Drilling and as a woodsworker; he then retired as a maintenance supervisor at UNB. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 78, Boiestown. Harlan was an avid hunter, he also enjoyed fishing, music and step dancing. In addition to his wife, Harlan is survived by his daughters, Carolyn Brown and Gloria Brown both of Lincoln, NB, Wendy Luke of Tracy, NB and Joyce Aubin of Fredericton, NB; sons, John Brown of Harvey, NB and Andrew Brown (Shelley) of Surrey, BC; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; brothers, Leonard Brown (Barb) and Murray Brown (Emma) of Astle, NB; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his granddaughter, Melanie Dawn Brown; great granddaughter, Kristen Campbell English and sister, Mabel Brown. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Saturday, March 19, 2011 from 12 -2 pm followed by a funeral service at 2 pm. Interment will take place in Astle Community Cemetery at a later date.
