Obituary of Calvin Lyons

The passing of Calvin Oppman Lyons of Doaktown, NB, son of the late William and Frances (Doak) Lyons, occurred on Monday, January 5, 2009 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, at the age of 81, after a lengthy illness. Calvin was a member of St. Andrews Anglican Church. He was a Lumber Grader and Mill Wright at Russell and Swim/ Irving for over 46 years. Calvin was an outfitter, guide, avid fly fisherman and Altlantic Salmon Museum Hall of Fame Inductee. Calvin was the devoted husband of Mary D. (O’Donnell) for 61 years; loving father of Linda Donovan (Stanley), Brian Lyons (Jacqueline) and Larry Lyons (Valerie); grandfather to Jayne Doucette (Marc), Mick Donovan (Nancy), Joan Morrison, Jess Donovan Lawton (Matthew), Lori-Anne Mossman (Dawson), Kristi-Lee Lyons, Terri-Dawne Lyons, Christopher Lyons, Maggie Lyons Yarmeson (Tony) and Ashlin Lyons; great grandfather to Katey, Erika and William Doucette, Karter and Quinn Donovan, Sydney and Spencer Morrison, Nola Lawton, Lucas and Leighen Lyons, Zachery Lyons, Natalya Lyons Yarmeson; his sister, Alma Wallace and companion to his faithful dog, “Lady”. Besides his parents, Calvin was predeceased by his sister, Venus Carr and brothers, Nelson and Albert. Visitation will take place at Miramichi Valley Funeral Home, New Bandon on Thursday, January 8, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place from St. Andrews Anglican Church, Doaktown, NB on Friday, January 9, 2009 at 2 pm with Canon Bill MacMullin officiating. The gift of music will be provided by the St. Andrews Church Choir accompanied by Montie Carr (nephew). Pallbearers for the service will be James Harriman, Randy Storey, Derrick Willis, Dawson Mossman, Mick Donovan and Kirk Lyons; Honourary Pallbearers will be Claude and Myles Russell, MacKenzie O’Donnell, Fulton Green, William Gaston, Russell and Leonard Storey. Interment will take place in St. Andrews Anglican Cemetery, Clay Hill at a later date.
