Obituary of Lethia Donnell

The passing of Lethia “Lea” Joan O’Donnell, wife of the late Perley A. O’Donnell, of McNamee, NB, occurred on January 26, 2009 at the Oromocto Public Hospital. Born on July 26, 1916 in Oakfield, Maine, she was a daughter of the late William and Lillian (MacKenzie) Driscoll. Lea was a fabulous mother to her childen and a devoted wife to Perley. An icon to her small community and all that lived in it. She was a caregiver to many people as well as a retired nursing assistant from Central NB Nursing Home, Boiestown. She was affiliated with the Anglican Parish of Ludlow/Blissfield. Lea is survived by five daughters, Juanita Long (Ernest) of New Bandon, Yvonne Lyons (Haviland) of Marysville, Martha O’Donnell (Billy) of McNamee, Euphemia Black (Alvin) of Boiestown and Carlotta O’Donnell of Fredericton; four sons, Melvin Pender (Joan) of New Jersey, USA, Lawrence O’Donnell (Velma) of McNamee, Allen O’Donnell (Irma) of McNamee and Cleveland O’Donnell (Patricia) of Fredericton; 20 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Lea was predeceased by her granddaughter, Theresa Long Levesque; her infant great grandchild, Anthony James Price and her brother, Ellis John Driscoll. Visitation will take place at Miramichi Valley Funeral Home, 7681 Route 8, New Bandon on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from St. James the Greater Anglican Church, Ludlow on January 31, 2009 at 11 am with Rev. Andrew Fraser officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be her grandsons. Interment will take place at St. John’s Anglican Church Cemetery, Carroll’s Crossing at a later date.
