Obituary of Reginald Long

The passing of Reginald Milton Long, of Porter Cove, NB, occurred on February 1, 2009 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on November 21, 1920 in Porter Cove, NB, he was a son of the late Milton and Caroline (Clarke) Long. He worked in the woods, on the log drive and in Forest Protection (bud worm spray Blackville and Parker’s Ridge). Reg worked for Boiestown lumber until his retirement. He was affiliated with the Ludlow United Baptist Church.
Reginald is survived by his brother, Baden Long (Mavis) of Ludlow, NB; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Aubrey, Ora and Maurice; his sister, Verna MacDonald.
Visitation will take place at Miramichi Valley Funeral Home, New Bandon, NB, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from the funeral home on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at 2 pm with Rev. David Williston officiating and Pastor Rick Bruce assisting. Pallbearers for the service will be Spencer Price, Carl MacKay, Kevin Long, Duane Hovey, Guy Hovey and Manny Munn. Interment will take place at the Ludlow United Baptist Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances made to the Central New Brunswick Nursing Home, Ludlow United Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
