Obituary of M. Carr

The passing of M. Elaine (Whalen) Carr, wife of the late Richard Carr, of Boiestown, NB, occurred on June 7, 2009 at the Central New Brunswick Nursing Home. Born on May 21, 1914 in Boiestown, NB, she was a daughter of the late John Whalen and Grace (Norrad) Whalen O’Connor. Elaine was a long time church organist at St. Joachim’s, a member of St. Joachim’s Altar Society, a life member of Boiestown Women’s Institute and the Boiestown Seniors Group. She is survived by her daughters, Grace Trecartin (Clayton) of Belleville, ON, Judy McAloon (John) of Fredericton, NB, Joanne Doucette of Doaktown, NB, Barbara Hunter (Keith) of Doaktown, NB, Beth Storey (Roger) of Doaktown, NB; sons, Max Carr (Betty) Of Drumheller, AB and Patrick Carr (Deborah) of Hillsborough, NB; 20 grandchildren, Richard, David, Douglas, Cathy, Vicki, Melanie (Carr), Patricia and Karen (Trecartin), Laurie, Michael, Carol, Margot and Kelly (McAloon), Paul, Leigh and Mark (Doucette), Sara and Joel (Hunter), Jill and Shyanne (Storey); 29 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; sisters, Mary O’Connor (Art) and Eliza Matthews both of Fredericton, NB; daughter-in-law, Joan Carr of Salisbury, NB; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son, Vincent Carr; great granddaughter, Samantha Anne Spencer; great grandson, Devon Patrick MacPhee; brothers, Lloyd and Joseph Whalen; sister-in-law, Patricia Whalen. Visitation will take place at Miramichi Valley Funeral Home, 7681 Route 8, New Bandon, NB on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Joachim’s Roman Catholic Church, Boiestown, NB on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at 11 am with Father Bonaventure Annan as celebrant. Interment will take place in St. Joachim’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances made to St. Joachim’s Parish, Central NB Nursing Home, Boiestown Community Library or to the charity of the donors’ choice. Elaine’s family will never forget all the kindness, love and caring shown to her by the staff of the nursing home, and the people of Boiestown and surrounding area.
