Obituary of Craig Cleveland

The passing of Craig Cleveland, of Boiestown, NB, husband of Dorcas (Martin) Cleveland, occurred on Friday, December 11, 2009 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born in Chipman, NB on May 18, 1928 he was a son of the late Harvey and Lillian (Cormier) Cleveland. Craig was a member of St. Joachim's Catholic Church and member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4, Fredericton. During the Korean War Craig served as a Combat Engineer. His passions in life included woodworking and spending time in the outdoors. In addition to his wife, Craig is survived by his son, Bruce Cleveland (Denise Salanski-Cleveland) of Edmonton, AB; daughters, Iris Doak (James) of Boiestown, NB, Donna Conroy (Rodney) of Fredericton, NB and Lynn Clowater (Terry) of Doaktown, NB; grandchildren, Reed, Chelsea, Nicholas, Jennifer, Cole and Clay; great-grandson, Aiden; sister, Betty Dubien of Ottawa, ON; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Craig was predeceased by sisters, Florence, Helen, Katherine, Leona, Isabelle and Jennette; brothers, Clayton, Herman, Alexander, Boyd and Winston Cleveland. Visitation will take place at Miramichi Valley Funeral Home, 7681 Route 8, New Bandon on Sunday and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Joachim’s Catholic Church, Boiestown on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at 11:00 am with Father Vincent Donovan as celebrant. Interment will take place in the church cemetery. Family has asked for no flowers. For those who wish, remembrances made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
