Obituary of Wilfred Price
It is with sadness that we announce the death of Wilfred O. Price of Priceville (Ludlow), beloved husband of Janice (Russell) Price. His death occurred on February 17, 2010 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. He was 53.
Wilfred was the son of Julia and the late Samuel Price. He is survived by his wife, Janice; his son, Shawn; his mother; two brothers, Warren (Linda) and Erdie (Julie); step-brother, Gerald and step-sister, Rhonda.
Wilfred was well-known for his generosity and helpful ways. He was always very positive and seldom complained about his health. On many occasions, he remarked that there were a great number of people in much worse health. He appreciated the joys of nature and felt he had a lot to be thankful for; living where he did, overlooking the Miramichi River Valley where he had personally built his home. Having a great interest in the river, Wilfred became a well-respected fishing guide and was held in high regard by the management of the Sutter Salmon Club, where he worked for a number of years. Wilfred had numerous abilities. Early in life he acquired an interest in cars and later built a shop near his home where he repaired and rebuilt many vehicles. In recent years, he built his second 1923 Ford Model-T as a graduation present for his son, Shawn, which became quite an attraction at car shows. A man of significant talent and character, Wilfred was much loved by those in his community and beyond, as evidenced by the turnout at the benefit held in his honour in August, 2007. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation will take place at the Miramichi Valley Funeral Home, 7681 Route 8, New Bandon, on Saturday, February 20, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday at the McNamee Pentecostal Assembly at 2 pm with Pastor Lena Medeiros officiating and Pastor Cole Price assisting. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the New Brunswick Kidney Association or the Canadian Diabetes Association and would be appreciated by the family.
