Obituary of Sylvia Martell

Sylvia Martell (Gillispie) passed away at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, Fredericton, NB after a brief illness. Born in Blackville, NB on May 1, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Theo Gillispie and Sara (Sullivan) Gillispie. Sylvia was a member of the Fredericton Legion Auxiliary, Branch #4. Sylvia is survived by one son, George Greene (Rona), of Blissfield, NB; two daughters, Margaret Bamford, of Boiestown, NB and June Greene, of Moncton, NB; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Bill Martell, she was predeceased by one son, Gilbert Greene; one daughter, Shirley O’Donnell; one great-grandson; one great granddaughter; five brothers, Charlie, Arthur, Gordon, Perley and Ernest; five sisters, Vera, Eunice, Irene, Viola and Hilda. There will be no visitation by request of the family but a Memorial Service will be held from Miramichi Valley Funeral Home, 7681 Route 8, New Bandon, NB on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at 1pm. Interment will take place in the St. Thomas United Church Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances made to the Central New Brunswick Nursing Home would be appreciated.
