Obituary of Jeanette Seymour
SEYMOUR, JEANETTE
September 14, 1938 - January 8, 2020
We mourn the passing of Jeanette Seymour. After a courageous battle with cancer she passed away in the Intensive Care Unit at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Wednesday, January 8, 2020. Jeanette was born September 14, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Muriel and Gerald Saunders, a devoted grandmother, loving mother and wife, caring sister and trusted friend.
Jeanette was a lifelong resident of Nashwaaksis, Fredericton, growing up and marrying Warren Gerald Seymour in 1955. She worked at the Dr. Everett Chalmers for over thirty years. She loved all sports and dogs, especially her constant companion Lily. More than anything else, though, she loved supporting her children and grandchildren in hockey arenas in New Brunswick, Atlantic Canada, Sweden, Ontario and the United States. She was fiercely proud of the athletic and academic accomplishments of every single one of her offspring.
Jeanette is survived by her husband Warrren Seymour of 64 years, her beloved sister Deborah Hollingworth, and her six children Janice Edwards (Randy), Tim (Andrea), Randy (Karla Theriault), Chris (Tammy), Peter (Michelle Ralph) and Jamie (Alexia Dean). She was a proud and loving grandmother to 15 grandchildren: Cory and Jeffrey Edwards; Ryan, Matthew, Bill, Michael, Taylor, Racheal, Alaina, Lindsey, and Brooklyn Seymour; Dillen Theriault; and Hannah, Chris and Ian Ralph. Jeanette had special affection for her great grandchildren Kasey, Sophia, Harper, Sullivan, Maclean, Charlee, Bo, Raine, Megan, Violet, Katherine and Olivia. She was pre-deceased by her mother, father, and much loved brother-in-law, Steve Hollingworth, and daughter-in-law, Wendy Seymour.
Jeanette was blessed to have wonderful care from Horizon staff over the last two years. The family is sincerely grateful to the unbelievable teams in ICU and the Emergency Room at the DECRH, who did so much to ease her pain and care for the family this past week.
Visitation will be held on Saturday January 11, 2020 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive. The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday January 12, 2020 at 2 pm at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, Jeanette would be delighted to know that donations were made to the Brendan Oreto Foundation that provides underprivileged children an opportunity to experience hockey with their friends.
