Obituary of Eileen Neill

The passing of Eileen “Pete” Pearl Neill, beloved wife of Albert Neill of Fredericton, NB, occurred on December 31, 2019 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on April 22, 1929 in Fredericton Junction, NB, she was the daughter of the late Burpee and Florence Mae (Palmer) Peterson. Growing up in London, Ontario, Eileen could be found enjoying life whether it be playing basketball, softball, or going for a swim at the lake. In 1952, she graduated from the VPH nursing program and it was during her first years of nursing that she met her husband Albert. Together they enjoyed cheering for their favorite Toronto sports teams and opening up their pool to family and friends where all felt welcome. Eileen was an avid reader and was famous for both her beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. She was affiliated with Devon Park Baptist Church. Besides her husband, she is survived by her son, Gregory Neill; daughters Sheila Jones (Derek) and Sharon MacLaggan (David), all of Fredericton; grandchildren, Matthew (Becky), Jordan (Kelli), Daniel Jones (Rebecca), Megan Wetendorf (John), David Andrew (Angela), Jeffrey MacLaggan (Natalie) and Sarah Thompson (Jody); 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Charles Peterson and sister, Betty Danowski. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Friday January 3, 2020 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Saturday January 4, 2020 at 2 pm. Interment will take place at Sunny Bank Cemetery at a later date.
