Obituary of Daniel Rearick

Life Legacy REARICK, DANIEL GEORGE When Danny discovered Long's Creek on a cold and snowy Sunday afternoon in 1975 he said, "I could spend the rest of my life here." He did. Danny died in his little yellow house in Long's Creek on a cold and snowy day on December 7, 2019. His wish came true. Born on March 26, 1936 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, he was the son of Edward and Edith Rearick, and is survived by his older brother Charles and wife Sylvia. Danny leaves his wife Nancy, son Peter, and daughter Celinda Crandall, husband Graham, and their children Matthew, Christy, and Brandon. He also leaves his sisters-in-law Dorothy Woods Smith, Jean Woods Boobar, and Odena Woods Randall and husband Jack, and special cousins Peter and Peggy Rearick. He will be missed by his nieces and nephews. A man of many talents, Danny always found it difficult to choose between running and music. He was an outstanding runner from miles to marathons. Many remember seeing him running around Wilmot Park and Sunshine Gardens, on the Harvey road, and from the mill in Marysville. Music was equally important to Danny. He sang in the church choir, and was a superb ukulele player with a specialty in sing-alongs. A trombone and euphonium player, he was a charter member of the Fredericton Concert and Marching Band. He marched in Remembrance Day and Santa Claus parades for almost 40 years. He played in the orchestra, in churches, and in many small groups. He played and practiced every day. Danny loved his family, friends, neighbours, and Champion Camp, a log cabin on Long Lake in Maine. He always claimed that everyone was a winner at Champ. It was a good life. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Dr. A Funeral Service will take place at St Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 512 Charlotte St, on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at 11 am with Rev. Bob Jones officiating. Reception to follow. Interment will take place in Prince William Cemetery with Pastor Graham Crandall officiating. The family would like to thank the Extra Mural Program for all of their help. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Harvey Outreach for Seniors or to the Prince William Cemetery.
