Obituary of Donald Davidson
It is with heavy hearts that Donald James Davidson’s family announce his passing on Monday, November 11, 2019. Don was born in Nashwaaksis on August 15, 1937 to Ralph and Helen “Blanche” (Saunders) Davidson. He was a younger brother for his “Big Brother” Ronald (Ron). Don’s family moved to Ontario when he was approximately 12 years old. After finishing school, he married Margaret Ann Budgell. They were blessed with three sons, Mark, Scott and Todd.
Don worked with his dad in his stores and later had his own business. They lived in various towns and settled in Listowel where he founded STOP 23, now run by his family. Don retired in 2004 and they moved to Grand Manan.
Don is survived by his wife, Marjorie (Ingalls Graham); sons, Mark (Deborah), Scott (Sunni) and Todd; three grandsons, Brett (Natasha), Jason (Janesta) and Justin (Susie); three grand daughters, Jenna (Scott) Patterson, Jessica and Mya; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Canon Ronald (Bonnie). He also has cousins who have been more like brothers; Charles Seymour and Earle Davidson; his step family, Lianne (Rex) Harris, Jody (Michele) Graham; four step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren.
Don has been a very loving husband, Dad and “Grampa”, not only to his own children, but also to his step family. Don was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret and his parents.
When Don arrived on Grand Manan, he fell in love with the Island and the feelings were reciprocated. This has been shown by the outpouring of Love to both of us during this extremely difficult journey.
We are following Don’s wishes at this time; there will be no Funeral Service, however, there will be visitation for Family and Friends, which will take place on Saturday, November 16, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB. Family burial will take place in Woodlands Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Church Of The Ascension NH, Grand Manan Hospital Foundation, the Charlotte County Cancer or the charity of the donor’s choice.
