Obituary of Leo O'Toole

The passing of Leo Philip O’Toole of New Maryland, husband of Mary Theresa (Carrigan) O’Toole, occurred on November 3, 2019 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on January 24, 1931 in Truro, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late Catherine Anne and John Patrick O’Toole. He proudly retired as a Warrant Officer after serving 28 years in the RCAF. He later worked 14 years for the Department of Transportation. Leo was a devoted family man and was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays fan. He is survived by his wife, Mary Theresa O’Toole; daughter, Gwen O’Toole; sons, Greg O’Toole and John O’Toole (Diane MacLeod); grandson, Philip O’Toole (Caitlyn); granddaughter, Megan O’Toole (Calvin Laird); great grandchildren, Maks and Spencer O’Toole and Brantley Laird; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Leo was predeceased by his brother, Gerald O’Toole and sister, Gwen Hingley. A Private Family Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home. Interment will take place in Hermitage Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
