Obituary of John George
The family of John Joseph George of Fredericton, NB, is sad to announce his passing on September 25, 2019 at York Care Centre, a few days after his 80th birthday.
John was born on September 20, 1939 in Henley Harbour, Labrador. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Remona (nee Bernier); children, Lesa (Ron), Colette (John), Greg (Sabina), Carrie (Ray), Jason (Natalie); twelve grandchildren and seven of his ten siblings.
John enjoyed many sports, having played hockey, basketball and baseball. He was a competitive bowler, marksman, accomplished runner and lifeguard. An avid gardener, John loved working with the earth and produced a plentiful vegetable garden every year. John liked cooking and was renowned for his turkey stuffing. He was also a voracious reader, crossword puzzle fanatic, articulate public speaker and loved poetry. He had a quick wit and delighted in entertaining his family with funny songs and stories.
John had a long and successful career in the financial industry, including 25 years with Household Financial Group and 20 years as an Executive Financial Consultant (CFP) with Investors Group.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to good friends Maureen and Leo Murray and to the staff of York Care Centre for the exceptional care given to John.
Visitation and celebration of life will be held at York Funeral Home, Fredericton from 7 pm to 9 pm on Monday, Sept. 30, 2019. Funeral services will be at Christ Church Parish Church at 2 pm on Tuesday, Oct 1, 2019.
