Obituary of Greta Jack

Greta Elizabeth Jack of Fredericton, NB passed away at York Care Centre on Friday September 20, 2019, at the age of 93. Greta is survived by her children: Linda Jack and her husband Pat Kennedy of London, ON; Brian Jack and his wife Marilyn of Mt. Pleasant, ON and Brenda Embleton and her husband Bev of Fredericton, NB. Also survived by her grandchildren; Angie Baresich (Justin), Jeffrey Hicks (Krista), Alicia McElroy (Owen), Rob Hicks (Lenore), Alex Jack (Jennifer), Jennifer Jack (Denis), Stephanie Jack (Kelsey), Carolyn Stevenson (Matthew), Joanne Embleton and Laura Hefling; step-grandchildren, Rose Marie Green (Torek) and Gloria Whitney (Miles); 21 great-grandchildren and 8 step great-grandchildren. Greta was predeceased by her husband, Lewis Jack; parents, Thomas and Gertrude (MacDougall) Palmer; sister, Edith Palmer; and brothers, Earl, Claude and Lorne Palmer. Greta trained as an RN in the Jeffrey Hales Hospital in Quebec City. After she was married she worked with her husband on their farm and with their business. She stayed at home to look after their children and was very active in the community. She was an avid reader and gardener and was an excellent cook. They lived most of their married lives in Valcartier Village, PQ and then moved to Fredericton to be near their daughter, Brenda. Visitation will take place from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 from 1 until 2 pm followed by a Funeral Service at 2 pm with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Interment will take place in Bear Island Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Bear Island Cemetery or the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick.
