Obituary of V. Danette Pond
Life Legacy
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Danette Valerie Pond which occurred on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at the Dr Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton after a lengthy battle with Dementia/Alzheimer’s. Born March 4, 1959 she was the daughter of Merva (Nagle) Carrier (Paul) Calgary and the late Wilfred Pond (Christel).
Danette had an infectious smile that would brighten any room. She graduated from St Thomas University in 1995 with a degree in Social Work and then moved to Prince George, BC with her husband, Geordie Daye and daughter, Sarah to pursue a career with the Ministry for Children and Families.
Danette loved life ... biking, hiking, soccer (playing and coaching), trips to the mountains and anything outdoors. She loved being with family and loved music.
In addition to her mom, Danette will be missed by her loving husband, George Daye "Geordie"; her loving, compassionate daughter, Sarah Daye; sister, Loretta McPhee (Donnie) of Fredericton; brothers, Michael Pond (Maureen Palmer) and Roger Pond, both of Vancouver; step mother, Christel Pond, of Miramichi; several nieces and nephews, extended family and her dear friend, Mary Conlon.
Danette’s Celebration of Life will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive Fredericton on Sunday, September 22, 2019 from 2-4 pm. A Memorial Mass will take place at St Dunstan's Catholic Church on Monday, September 23, 2019 at 12:10 pm with Rev Bill Brennan as celebrant. For those who wish remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer Society or Hospice Fredericton. Personal thank you to all the nurses/LPN’s and Drs in 4SE, DECRH and personal care workers who gave Danette so much love. Also a special thank you to the staff/ volunteers at the Family Adult Day Centre at Hospice Fredericton...You are beautiful people! Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
