Obituary of Lorraine Jones
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lorraine Marie (Murray) Jones of Fredericton, NB at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 with her family by her side, after a brief battle with cancer. Born on June 22, 1950 in Fredericton, NB, she was the daughter of Florence (Randall) Murray and the late Gerald Murray. She grew up in Lakeville Corner. Lorraine worked for many years at the York Care Centre and was fortunate to retire early in life and spend her final years at her husband's side where they spent much of their time at the camp, fishing and hunting. Lorraine's passion in life was always her family; any day spent with family was a good day. In later years, Lorraine was lucky enough to be able to move her mom, Florence to Fredericton where they spent many bingo nights together. Lorraine joined a seniors' bowling league and found a special bond with friends Judy, Dick and Linda. Lorraine was very independent and took great pride in mowing, snowblowing; even this past summer did bodywork on her vehicle, and managed to go tubing on the Nashwaak for the first time.
In addition to her mother, Lorraine is survived by her only daughter, Wendy Ebbett (Todd) of Fredericton; grandson, Ryan Ebbett (Emily) of Keswick Ridge and precious great-granddaughter, Laurel; grandson, Mitchel Ebbett of Fredericton; brothers, Dale (Debbie) of Ontario and Malcolm of Lakeville Corner; close friend and sister-in-law, Karlene Jones of Fredericton; special nephew, Jason Jones (Amanda) of Burtts Corner; special great-niece, Bella; several other nieces and nephews. Besides her father, Lorraine was predeceased by her husband; Steven Jones and sister, Phyllis Stafford.
A heartfelt thank you goes to Dr. MacDonald, Dr. Kenney and the nurses of palliative care 3E for their compassionate care of Lorraine and her family.
In keeping with Lorraine's wishes, there will be no public service; a private interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to make donations in Lorraine's name may do so to the New Brunswick Lung Association. Personal condolence may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
